Landlinearea codes are, 2 digits in peninsular Malaysia (area codes 03 to07 and 09), and three digits in East Malaysia (area codes 8x). Anarea code roughly follows state borders. Thus, a full nationalnumber is 10 digits for area codes 03 and 9 digits for other statesin Malaysia.

When calling from a landline, calls to landline within the samearea code do not require the area code to be dialled. Calls tomobile phones from a landline and calls from mobile phones to alandline require full national dialling codes.
