Last mile delivery is a term used for transportation of merchandise from the nearest distribution hub to the final destination. Evaluate an existing logistics information system (LIS) for last mile delivery or to propose a new LIS for last mile delivery that can be used by a particular group of users or a specific company that you identified. You may perform both tasks: for example, to propose new functions and systems that can be incorporated to an existing LIS systems. You may also review the strength and limitation of existing LISs when proposing new systems.

Seriously consider some of the following issues and questions: - The functions to be included in the LIS; why they are important, and how they are expected to support/improve certain operations; - The cost and benefit of implementing the LIS, key performance indicators (KPIs) that can be used to quantify such costs and benefits. - Changes needed in order to introduce/implement/improve the LIS, such as business process, operation, enterprise systems, organizational structures, or cooperation with other stakeholders/partners (e.g. suppliers, logistics service providers, distributors and/or retailing firms). - Data that can be captured/extracted/analyzed for knowledge discovery or operation improvements. - New services or benefits that can be made available through the use of new technology, new process or organizational changes - The advantage and disadvantages of adopting the (proposed) LIS in the industry or case company, how would this affect the company's business strategy and market competition. - Prospects of future changes and developments.

Note in addition to businesses and enterprises, you can analyze other types of organizations or government agencies (e.g. non-profit organizations that promote the recycle of industrial wastes). You may also analyze the company you are working for / worked for. However, you shall remove any commercially sensitive contents and facts, or to use a proxy name for the company.
