This week, the subject is the leaders' influence on organizational culture. Be sure to read Warrick's excellent article, the four pages on power and leadership in the Frost and Purdy note, listen to the lecturettes, and consider reading the short article I posted from Fast Company, an excerpt from Satya Nadella's book "Hit Refresh" on his efforts to change Microsoft's culture.

For your initial post, what resonated for you in this week's readings and how you would apply the reading to your own work life. Ideally, Try the mini-cultural audit You won't actually get a formal report back but look at the questions they ask and at your responses to them. That should tell you a lot.

I have always been fascinated by the subject of culture. I like to say that a goldfish can't see the water it is swimming in. Think about it. We get used to our surroundings and they become our norm. As Warrick writes, culture becomes culture by default. For your next post, doooo aaaa cultural audit of your workplace. Think about the things listed below:

QUESTIONS

What are the artifacts? How people dress, how is the space designed. What is the leadership style? How are people treated?

How are decisions made and implemented?

Would you call your organization "Ambidextrous"?

What values are expressed? What are the practiced values?Any evidence of SCARF threats?

Your goal this week is to identify a couple of tools that you can use either now or in the future in leadership roles to influence the culture or sub-culture of your organization.
