Leader development efforts almost seem as if they take the circumstances or situations in which one leads as a constant. The underlying assumption seems to be that if one can master a set of leader competencies, for example, those competencies will be needed in equal measure in all situations. Is it possible that some situations require much more of a competency than other situations? For example, might a particular situation require someone with an especially high focus/strength in something like "attention to detail"? If someone brings that strength to such a situation, are they violating the Fear Your Strengths mantra? Why or why not
