Leaders who emphasize listening and genuinely caring for their team are more effective than those who do not (Northouse, 2018). It is important for the leader to be able to engage in conversation with subordinates and be able to hear feedback that may not always be positive as well as listen to suggestions to improve the process. Without listening to feedback, leaders can miss out on important growth opportunities and can limit their effectiveness by not maximizing the input and ideas from their team.
