Leadership traits should not be discounted with leadership competencies. A trait is a tactic used to rule where as competency is the professionalism attained in the field of leadership. In fact, leadership traits should be complimented with leadership competencies. When the two are combined the ruling becomes easier and modest unlike when a trait is replaced by a competency. In any occasion, a combination of ideas or knowledge helps to better a situation and make improvements. So, leadership traits should not be discounted with leadership competencies
