Learning Task

  1. Define the terms "need" and "want"
  2. Why do many people believe their wants actually need?
  3. What would you tell someone who is saying they can't afford something, but spends lots of money on items they want? You can write a paragraph response or create dialogue between 2 people.
  4. Create a table with the following information:
    1. A list of 15 items you personally buy regularly.
    2. How much does each item cost? (actual costs, not guesses)
    3. How often do you need to purchase it?
    4. Review the list and prioritize the items from 1- being the most important to 15 being the least important.
    5. Beside each item; identify whether the item is a need, current want, or future want. If the item is listed as a future want - determine how far into the future by indicating the number of approximate days, weeks, months, or years in which you are hoping to acquire this item.
