Like what Taiye Selasi said, a country is not a reasonable proxy for culture. A country holds different kinds of cultures as well because of the people in that country. Using the three R's that Taiye Selasi presented in the TED talk, we could measure where one feels at home and connected to, through rituals, relationships, and restrictions. I agree that we bring our rituals wherever we go from where we learned them and that it shapes our character and builds on with the help of the relationships we have with others and how we treat or value those relationships. Culture is the term we use to define what our rituals are or explain why we respect our elders so much or why value family relations as much. A country is not a reasonable proxy for culture because you can be a citizen of a country or born in a country but not be brought up by its culture. Though, is asking where one is local the same as asking what their ethnicity is?
