Looking at the EM spectrum, one thing that would prove beneficial is to further explore ultraviolet light. Studies on reindeer show that the animal is able to see the colors past what human eyes can see. This is thought to be part of why animals can see in darkness and thrive when no light is visible. Ultraviolet light is absorbed by many different plants that the animal eats, allowing them to find them in darkness. For many years, we have thought that UV light is dangerous for our eyes, but if these animals can see them with no harm, maybe we have been wrong, or maybe they have enhanced abilities to prevent harm to their eyes. Either way, further studies can help show us how dangerous UV light is. If we can figure out whether UV light is dangerous, we can further explore the health benefits of this light. We already know that UV light gives us vitamin D and can kill germs, but there may be more that we are unaware of. Being able to see UV light can also benefit people living where little sunlight is found during the winter. UV light can give them much-needed vitamin D as well as show different things in nature.
