LUb Reflective Izssay The Model Penal Code provides model criminal statutes that are drafted by noted legal experts serve as examples for state legislatures to consider when drafting or revising their criminal laws. Realeatch - Review the Model Penal Code Powerpoint- (Links to an external site.) - Watch the Hamlet clip below (pay close attention to the beginning of the video clip when Laertes and the King plot to kill Hamlet during a sword fight). Reflect - Assume that the King miraculously survives Hamlet's stabbing and poisoning of him. Discuss whether the King can be reasonably charged with any kind of MPC criminal homicide (murder, manslaughter, or reckless homicide) for each of the deaths (Hamlet's, Laertes's, or the Queen's) that occurred during the sword fight/climax. (Please note that "criminal homicide" is the general category of crime and murder, manslaughter, and negligent homicide are the specific types of criminal homicide. Thus, in your essay, please do not "charge" anyone with criminal homicide; charge them with one of the three specific types of homicide). - Identify which kind of homicide and which MPC mental state are applicable. Your 500 word essay is due no later than the day listed in the syllabus course schedule. NOTE: There are thirteen lesson essay assignments. Students may complete up to five essay assignments; no extra credit will be given for completing more than five. See the Syllabus for more details
