Have you ever toured a warehouse? Do you currently work in a warehouse? This is your chance to design your own. The purpose of this assignment is to design your own warehouse and inventory system. It is important to think about efficiencies, the flow of goods, and other requirements that make an effective operation.

InstructionsComplete the following steps:

  • Design a warehouse, including the following parts:
    • How will it be arranged? (U-Shape, separate inbound/outbound, etc)
    • inbound shipments/receiving
    • inventory
      • how will you arrange (random, like items, etc)
      • what material handling equipment will you use?
  • Utilize legos, building blocks, or other things to "animate" your warehouse and inventory system. (some have used the video game MineCraft for this project. If you need suggestions, talk with your instructor)
  • Discuss how you came up with the design
  • Use your phone, video camera, computer, etc to record your warehouse in motion. Use your voice to walk us through the "tour".
  • Because of large files, you may need to upload to YouTube so that your instructor can view.
