a. Which parts of a car are best produced by machining?

b. Identify one item which can best be produced by turning and get practical lathe specifications (efficiency, rpm, etc) and i) calculate the specific energy of the turning operation and ii) the tool life.

c. Identify a disposable and regrindable tool which can be used on any of the car parts you have mentioned in part a). Make a machining-economics comparison (after identifying your practical parameters: labour cost, price of tool, etc) and spell out the better tool to use.

d. What is the life of your chosen tool in part c) and how can it be improved?
