These are sample topics. You may propose one of your own as long as it meets the objective of being important to people in health care organizations.

• Trends in Remote Work in Health Care Industry (what jobs this is impacting and how managers lead a remote workforce)
• "The Great Resignation" (Focus on the significant trending in retention of health care workers/Leadership strategies)
• Education of the Health Care Workforce (Academic education/preparation not continuing education)
• Impaired Professionals (Focus on what leaders do to address the situation)
• Lateral Violence Among Health Care Professionals (Focus on what health care managers should know and do).
• Caregiver Fatigue (related to the pandemic with a focus on manager/leader strategies to support staff)
• Workforce/Staffing Shortages for a particular profession
  • If this topic is chosen, one profession must be chosen - such as registered nurses, technicians, emergency workers, physicians.
  • CURRENT scholarly publications are essential. Some will be recommended in discussions near time for this assignment.
• Other topics are acceptable. Please consider other topics of interest and discuss with faculty.

*References MUST be from Credible Sources: It is important in researching this topic to use credible sources such as papers written by professors, papers published in peer review journals, documents or other sources from professional associations (as examples). Newsfeeds and other blog type references are not appropriate for this type of essay.

• • What is peer-reviewed research literature? Peer-reviewed journal articles have gone through an evaluation process in which journal editors and other expertscholars critically assess the quality and scientific merit of the article and its research. Articles that pass this process are published in the peer-reviewed literature.

• Introductory paragraph explaining about why the topic is an issue to organizations, particularly human resources functions. It must include why it is important to the human resources function/people in an organization.
• Background details on the topic: Inform the person reading this essay about the topic. Why is it an issue? What are the facts? Be careful to use credible sources that can be fact checked.
• Solutions: What are one or two strategies health care managers can do to help with the issue or to bring awareness to the role of a manager. Be cautious to use credible sources and and to cite other works, if your solution ideas are in the literature about the topic.
• References: There should be at least 2 references from credible sources. No more than 4 references. Be sure to cite them properly.
