Many people advocate banning child labor. However a recent study found that in response to the Indian government's passage of the Child Labor Prohibition Act of 1986 the amount of child labor increased in that country. In other words the study claims that the law ended up having the exactoppositeconsequences of those sought by its well-intentioned supporters.
