Marvin was a 25-year-old who loved to live large. Although he was only working as a mail clerk for a Manhattan law firm, he enjoyed the finer things in lifea luxury apartment, chauffeur service to and from work, dining at top-rated restaurants. How did Marvin pull all this off with a salary of $23,000 per year? Mom and Dad. Marvin's parents believed Marvin had secured a position at the law firm as an attorney, and they were helping him out until he could gage what his expenses would be in the Big Apple. Marvin's parents uncovered his deception when his mom paid a surprise visit to the firm, and the security desk agent sent her to the mailroom in the basement. After Marvin was cut-off, he continued to live extravagantly, and then filed for bankruptcy when his debts totaled $1.2 million. He declared all his assets, except for a personal bank account that still had a few dollars from Marvin's parents in it, mixed with his earnings from the firm. Shortly after filing the bankruptcy petition, Marvin made a withdrawal from his bank account and purchased a lottery ticket. The next day Marvin learned that he had won the $1 million lottery jackpot. Is Marvin entitled to keep the winnings?
