Max's top two employees, Jim and Julia, are African American and Hispanic American, respectively. Jim and his wife and Julia and her husband recently became parents for the first time. Upon reporting back to work after their time off in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act, Jim and Julia independently requested changes to their usual 8-to-5, Monday-Friday work schedules. The changes to their schedules allowed them to handle day care and other needs associated with their newborns.
