meetings any changes m the mix Umenivers at cacti, a curiserious was federico. izaritary Eryarere went to GM's North American Automotive Operations with that plan, to throw out old brands and create new ones," says Rock (Mateja). Another goal in Rock's strategy was to become more "Saturn-like." He moved the division toward "value pricing - offering a particular car with certain options at a specific discounted price" and getting that price without "haggling" with customers. Much of Rock's strategy rested on the success of emerging product lines: Aurora, Bravada, Ciera, Achieva, and a totally redone Cutlass. By that time, Rock hoped to reach the final goal in his plan: his retirement to the wilds of Montana. This strategy did bring in younger buyers, but not in the numbers that Oldsmobile had hoped. "Despite attempts to resurrect Olds with a new lineup and aggressive retail incentives, it sold only 265,878 vehicles during the first eleven months of 2000, putting it on pace for its worst sales year since 1952" (Miller). Oldsmobile production ended with the 2004 models. It is interesting to note that in 2003, auto auction company Kruse International named the 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass W-30 4-4-2 convertible muscle car one of the most collectible American cars (Valdes-Dapena).
