MGMT 180 Principles of Project Management Final Group Project Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many educational institutions to adopt online learning. Our project team has been tasked with developing an online learning platform for a university. The platform is expected to facilitate communication between students and instructors, provide access to course materials, and allow students to submit assignments and take exams. The project has a duration of 6 months and a budget of $500,000. Objectives: The main objective of the project is to develop an online learning platform that meets requirements of the university. The specific objectives include: Identify the key stakeholders and their requirements. Develop a project plan with a detailed timeline and budget. Identify and manage potential risks. Select and implement an appropriate technology solution. Train faculty and students on how to use the platform. Conduct a post-implementation review to evaluate the success of the project. Methodology: The project team will follow the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) framework. The project will be divided into the following phases: Initiation: In this phase, the project team will define the project scope, objectives, and key stakeholders. The team will also develop a project charter that outlines the project's purpose and high-level requirements. Planning: In this phase, the project team will develop a detailed project plan that includes a timeline, budget, and resource allocation. The team will also identify potential risks and develop a risk management plan. Execution: In this phase, the project team will implement the project plan by selecting and implementing an appropriate technology solution, training faculty and students on how to use the platform, and developing a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed of project progress. Monitoring and Control: In this phase, the project team will monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget. Closure: In this phase, the project team will conduct a post-implementation review to evaluate the success of the project and identify areas for improvement.

Communication Plan Group Work: Students will form groups of 4-5 and select a project manager. Each group will be assigned a role in the project, such as project sponsor, project manager, risk manager, technology manager, and communication manager. Each group will be responsible for developing the assigned deliverables using the PMBOK framework. Assessment: The project will be assessed based on the following criteria: A. Completion of all deliverables (60 points) includes the following: 1. Project Charter 2. Project Plan 3. Risk Management Plan 4. Technology Solution 5. Training Materials 6. Communication Plan B. Effectiveness of communication plan (15 Points) C. Risk management (15 points) D. Overall success of the project (10 points) Final Report (100 points): All deliverables should be submitted in a MS-Word document/PDF format for Final Report on Canvas Max 7 Pages including title page Presentation (50 points): Format: 1. Introduction 2. Body 3. Recommendation 4. Conclusion Note: All presentations should be between 20-25 minutes, every team member should record their part for 5 mins at least, and group should submit their recorded PPT on canvas ( Presentation should be abstract of the Final Group Project Report)

Conclusion: This case study project will provide students with an opportunity to apply the principles of project management to a real-world scenario. By working in groups and following the PMBOK framework, students will gain practical experience in project planning, risk management, communication, and implementation. The project will also allow students to develop their leadership and teamwork skills.
