1.) If my employer required me to give them my Facebook password, I would give it to them if it meant possibly losing my job. I do not post much on social media and when I do it is typically funny memes or pictures of my family and dogs. I would understand if other folks did not want to give theirs due to privacy and their first amendment rights. However, we have all see what posting certain things can cause you to receive possible disciplinary actions up to and including being terminated. So, I think folks should post with caution.

I believe if social media was accessible at work, it would harm productivity. It would take time away from their responsibilities and competing work in a timely fashion. I personally would not allow it if I owned a company.

2.) I do not see any advantages in giving your Facebook password to an employer. There are more disadvantages to giving full access to your Facebook page, such as seeing other contacts on your page who only share their information with certain people, and the employer will be able to alter your page and potentially send messages to others from your personal Facebook account.

What would YOU do if your employer asked for your Facebook password? I would not personally give them my password. They can do a search on Facebook and see my page.

The productivity of employees would depend on their job; some areas needs access to social media while others can be have limited access on work computers. With limited access, at least the employer can check their social media on their breaks.
