MGT 4317 Project Assignement (20 pts)
Assignment oblectlves: Practice and evaluate different aspects/techniques of problem-solving.
General description of proiect assignment: Create a survey using Qualtrics to collect information/data
to solve a unique problem.
The team assienment surver should include critical elements (each element worth 5 pts):
Description of the problem you are trying to solve. You should also identify the population and
sample the survey intends to use. Note: the problem in this context can be anything you want to get
solutions for, Give you an example below.
Here is an example of a couple of issues that the survey data can help resolve. I just came back from a
hiking trip to Zion National Park. Two of the most challenging hikes were Angels Landing and The
Narrows. However, each has different problems. The Angels Landing has chained narrow/steep sections
for the top half miles. It is a challenging and sometimes dangerous hike, especially when it is crowded.
For the Narrows, you need to hike through the water with slippery rocks - so the right shoes and
equipment are essential. So, you can see that even though both are labeled as the most challenging
hikes, the problems that need to be resolved are different.
Create a set of survey questions (15 to 20 questions) to gather information/data to help you get the
solution(s).
From the example ahove. For the overcrowding issue at Angels Landing, the Park nocds to find out how
many people per day would be considered too crowded, the number of people projected to visit daily, and
bow to limit the number of people. There was an announcement from Zion National Park: "In response to
concerns about crowding and congestion on the trail, on and affer April 1,2022, everyone who hikes
Angels Landing needs to have a permit. The pilot permit program reflects lessons leamed when we
metered the number of hikers on the trail in 2019 and 2021 and by distributing tickets to use the park
shuttle system in respoese to COVID-19 in 2020?(nps gow/Zion). One of the sites stated that Zion issues
900 permits daily, and the Park gets ever 2,000 hikers on boliday weekends. Aso, according to
MePartland, the Park's visitor use manager, the ideal number of hikers a day is 800(
kuer.org). The Park
also stated they would monitor the program and adjust accordingly.
Note for both 2) and below 3): Most of your questionnaires should be Multiple Choice, limiting the open-
ended questions to no more than two.
For each question listed above, a) identify what type of data/information you are collecting. For the
quantitative data, identify the levels of measurement. b) Describe how those questions are relevant
to the problems you are trying to solve. Your survey questions must have at least fwo levels of
measurement.

Use the Narrows as an example. There is an equipment rental shop, Zion Outfitter. They claimed they
only run out of sizes if you rent before 10a.m. on the day you are hiking. To do this, they probably need
