DESCRIPTION PURPOSE: Two (2) objectives guide this deliverable. The primary objective of this term project is to allow you to apply your emerging knowledge of international project management concepts to improve the likelihood of success for international projects. The secondary objective is to give you the opportunity to develop the following competences: Research skills by undertaking some secondary research; Analytical skills by learning to analyze and interpret information; Writing skills by preparing a written case report; and Promotion (i.e., selling) presentation and technical skills by producing a media product to sell your recommendations to senior management INSTRUCTIONS For this project, you will develop a project plan, and execute the initial project management stages, for a post COVID-19 outbound trade mission. You are free to choose the sectors and four countries that would be the basis of your project. Note that your decisions will influence all aspects of your international project management efforts. Your tour will originate from Canada and be conducted across a number of other countries at least four As typical of global/ international projects you are to engage with each other in a distributed and virtual manner. In other words, face-to-face meetings and collaborations are to be kept to an absolute minimum.

DELIVERABLES Written Report (20%): First you will introduce/justify the project you are proposing. In this regard, you will clearly outline the scope of your project.

Second, you will conduct a comprehensive risk management analysis of your international project. You will determine the types of risk, their probability of occurrence and impact and prepare mitigation strategies.

Third, and specific to national culture issues, you are to employ the Culture Gap Tool to analyze, identify and recommend strategies the international project team and stakeholders should adopt with respect to dealing with attitudes and behaviours regarding the following: Risk Management Planning and Organizing Communication and Cooperation issues

Last, you will identify the procedures and practices to ensure the project has a Lessons Learned management and implementation strategy. To this end you are to do the following: Attempt to predict the main lessons/conclusions that are to be drawn from the project (if it were to be actually undertaken) for international project managers in general; and Explain what you as International Project Management students have learned, especially regarding you as a team having to work virtually rather than meeting face- to-face on this term project. Note that this section requires you to document your work process.

The above analysis will comprise the main body of your report. In addition, you will include at a minimum, the following four (4) documents: 1. Project Charter 2. High Level Project Management Plan (consult the PMBOK Guide) 3. Stakeholder Map 4. Risk Management Register Do not just put these documents there and expect the reader to make linkages to the main body of your report. You must integrate and reference them in your analysis.
