Mini-checkers is a small scale version of the familiar game of checkers. It is played on a checkerboard just for squares wide and three deep. Each player has just two pieces. The checkerboard and the initial placement of the pieces in shown in Figure 2.E1. In color, the squares would be a red and black, and so would the pieces; but here, red is shown by the lighter gray, and black by the darker gray. As in ordinary checkers, the pieces move diagonally, only on the red squares
