Modules are separate units of software or hardware. Within QuickBooks, the modules are a set of standardized units or parts to construct a more complex report. They are distinct but interrelated with which a program can build on and ultimately provide a more complex analyzed report. For example, we did each Lesson assignment (module) and entered information like sales, bills, payments, etc. Then at the end of each module we ran reports that analyzed all the information we entered. We entered the bills we received and then the payments we issued via the check register. At the end of the month report, it showed ending balances of what was still outstanding to be paid. We entered invoices that we issued to customers as well as payments we received from our customers. Again, at the end of the month we were able to run a detailed report showing all of these as well as a summary of what was left outstanding. Modules are important because they allow us to do individual data processing per each module and then produce ending reports that analyze all of the information. This results in less room for error and more accurate reporting.
