Most universities feature some form of unionization. The majority of employees are represented by one of four labour unions:

(1) Part-time faculty are represented by CUPE 3912

(2) Full-time faculty, librarians, and lab instructors are represented by the a Faculty Association

(3) Non-academic employees are represented by NSGEU 81

(4) Custodial and Steam Plant employees and Security and Switchboard employees are represented by IUOE 721
