On 30.9.2019, he received a compensation of RM20,000 from insurance company. In the subsequent year, Mr. Saravanan disposed the shophouse on 25.5.2020 for RM700,000. Upon the sale, he paid RM8,000 to an agent for the sale of the house and legal fees of RM10,000. Required:

(a) Compute the real property gains tax arising from the disposal of the shophouse. (8 marks)

(b) Assuming that Mr. Saravanan gives the shophouse to his daughter on 25.5.2020 as a wedding gift and other relevant information remains unchanged. Compute the chargeable gain (if any) for the shophouse. Explain your answer with the relevant statutory provisions in the Real Property Gains Act 1976, if it differs from the answer in (a).
