Based on your readings of Pfleeger (Chapter 1), Landwehr and Saltzer, respond to the following questions:

1. (30 pts) How is the principle of complete mediation respected in the Multics design? Whatarchitectural/design decisions were made and what protection mechanisms are in place to supportit as a secure design principle

2. (30 pts) How is the principle of psychological acceptability violated in the Multics design?Identify at least two. Suggest some mitigating strategies or adjustments that might help with theprinciple violations you identify.

3. (40 pts) Identify and describe three distinct controls in place in Multics to protect data, onecontrol in each of three information states --storage, transmission, processing. That is: (a)Identify and describe a control protecting data in storage; (b) identify and describe a controlprotecting data in transit; and (c) identify and describe a control protecting data in process.
