My client is Charlie. Charlie and Lindsay are friends and used to make a lot of money, but both recently lost their jobs. Charlie and Lindsay also have had their drivers licenses severely restricted. One night over dinner, Charlie came up with the idea that both could purchase, together, a limousine and when needed, use it for transportation to special events. Lindsay liked the idea and began looking for a limo on Craigslist. Lindsay found a 2007 Lincoln stretch limousine for sale with an asking price of $15,000. The limo had 60,000 miles and lots of amenities such as a bar, sound system, and tv's and looked like this: Lindsay proposes to Charlie that they buy it together, each pay half and then store the limo at Lindsay's house, which they agree to do. In order to purchase the limo, Charlie and Lindsay must come up with a cashier's check for the full purchase price in less than a week. They must also pay registration, transfer fees, taxes, annual license, and insurance. Charlie and Lindsay agree the costs should be shared, and the vehicle will be registered in Charlie's name, because his driver's license restriction still allows him to drive to and from work during daylight hours, while Lindsay's license has been suspended for the next 12 months due to her more frequent DUI collisions. They meet with their respective attorneys (you) and ask you to contact the other side and negotiate an agreement (or contract) to share ownership, use and costs associated with the Limo. Thanks in advance
