My friend Jon Olinski signed a lease to rent a piece of land from his friend Diane Douglas to sell used concert T-Shirts from old hair bands from the 1980's that he had in his closet. He just sold an old Motley Crue T-shirt for $200! Wow! The best part is that Jon told me privately, that the property tax bill still goes to Diane not him, and while the lease says that he would pay the taxes, he has no intention of doing so. MPAC knows Jon is running a business there and have assigned a commercial tax rate to the property. Why is Diane still getting the tax bill and not Jon? A) Diane will still get the tax bill because she is the owner B) Diane is supposed to officially let MPAC know to send it to Jon C) Jon is supposed to officially let MPAC know to send it to him D) MPAC doesn't change the records until Jan 1 of the next year
