My name is Lisa and I reside and work in the Tampa Bay area. I am working to obtain my Associates in Paralegal Studies. My prior work experience includes corporate, hospitality and a little bit of medical. I only have a little over a year in experience as a legal assistant. I am hoping to really hone in on crafting my skills as a paralegal, especially legal writing. Some of the skills I believe are key in being successful as a paralegal are being organized, being able to multitask, being detail oriented, open minded and having great communication skills.

I am very unsure of where I will be in 5 years. I know that I will still be living in Florida. One of my goals is to pass my NALA exam after completing school, then after the required time has passed, applying to become a Florida Registered Paralegal, which I believe there are less than 500 in the state right now. There are many areas of law that interest me, but I also have a huge passion for politics as well, so right now I am focused on learning as much as possible so that I have as many doors open for myself as I can. I do hope to land somewhere in between law & politics or just politics some day. I am a parent with my hands full, so most of my time is spent either working or doing stuff for my boys, so I do not have any hobbies or extra time, I rarely travel or do much outside of work and take care of my family (even in 5 years I will still be at it). I do believe this course will be a great interaction with others going through a similar experience as me as well as a guide and learning experience into the legal world.
