Alcohol is the most destructive drug in Canadian society, and should be restricted or controlled more strictly than almost any other illicit substance, most notably Cannabis. This is due to two main factors in Canada, the first of which is that alcohol is more widely used harmfully (aboveCanada's Low-Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines) than any other illicit substances. Alcohol is also linked to the most violent arrests in Canada compared to any other substance as well as a large percentage of drug related arrests overall including non violent crime.
