For the past 20 years, Carol has been working for a local healthcare system and has worked her way up to the Director of Community Outreach. She feels good about her success but acknowledges thatbecause it came later in lifeshe is not prepared financially for her retirement. She also noted that she "has no idea what (she) will do with her time" once she is no longer working every day.

She shared that she never intended to grow old alone, and with the children and grandchildren living far away, she is often lonely. She struggled to identify three things she enjoyed doing in her spare time; she also acknowledged that she does not have many friends. Toward the end of her intake session, she sighed and stated, "Sometimes I just wonder what my purpose on this Earth is."

Carol is Caucasian and of European ethnic descent; she is agnostic.

Family History:

Carol is single currently; she was married for about 8 years during her 50s to a man she described as "a kind man, but a mistake for (her)." Carol has two adult children, (Hunter (M, 47 years), and Olivia (F, 44 years), both of whom are married with children, and who live on the opposite side of the country.
