You are to design the L-beam (.e., a type of flanged beams) illustrated in Figure 1 for the following: 1. Strength limit state in flexure; Use N40 steel reinforcement 2. Strength limit state for shear (transverse and longitudinal); Use (vertical)N16 double-legged closed ties: assume monolithic construction. Table 1 contains the dimensional and materials properties of the L-shaped beam as well as the magnitude of the applied loads. Note: "a" and "b" in Table / are double digits each and to be taken from the last two digits and the first two digits of your student number, respectively. For example, if your student number is s1234567, then a67 and b=12. The criteria that you must consider when designing/preparing your report are as follows: You do NOT need to consider the fire requirement when determining concrete cover. State any assumptions required and show all relevant working clearly. You must draw a side elevation and cross-section of your beam showing a realistic layout and positioning of reinforcing steel gt4 mo Cams with Column wide + E F 4000mm 4000mm L a) Side elevation view I F Spacing (S-3000mm Spacing (sy-3000mm (b) Cross-section (a-a) view Figure 1: Details of an L-beam in a beam-and slab system 5+10 40 Table 1: Dimensional and materials properties of the L-shaped beam and magnitude of applied loads Example (student Parameters Value Note number: s1234567) Applied loads in addition to the beam' self-weight Uniform distributed superimposed dead a 23.4 load, sg (kN/m) b Uniform distributed live load, q (kN/m) 100+ 100.6 20 Concentrated live load, P (kN) 300 -0.950 236.35 Material Properties f.MPa) 40 fy(MPa) 500 500 fyr (MPa) 500 500 Maximum aggregate size (mm) 20 20 Dimensions Round-down (a + b) Overall depth of the beam, D (mm) Round down +900) to the nearest 915 4 multiple of Round-down Thickness of the flange, t(mm) Round downl5 +701 to the nearest 70 multiple of Width of the web. by (mm) 450 450 Round-down Width of the column (mm) Round down[2a +200) to the nearest 330 multiple of 5 Centre-to-centre spacing between adjacent 3000 3000 beams, S (mm) Centre-to-centre spacing between 8000 8000 supports, L (mm) Others For 2-0 to 35: AI Exposure Classification For ar-36 to -70: A2 A2 For a=71 to a=99: B1
