Hypothesis Testing For each of the following find the Null and alternate hypothesis, find the critical test statistic and graph, then use the data to find the test statistic, decide to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis, write an informative script about the conclusion, and if the z-chart was used find the p-value and compare that to alpha. 1.) An interesting and popular hypothesis is that individuals can temporarily postpone their death to survive a major holiday or important event such as a birthday. In a study of this phenomenon, it was found that there were 6062 deaths in the week before Thanksgiving, and there were 5938 deaths the week after Thanksgiving. If people can postpone their deaths until after Thanksgiving, then the proportion of deaths in the week before should be less than 0.5. Use a 0.05 significance level to test the claim that the proportions of deaths in the week before Thanksgiving is less than 0.5. Based on the results does there appear to be any indication that people can temporarily postpone their death to survive the Thanksgiving holiday? 2.) Claim: 7 # 32.8; a =0.1 Sample statistic: $= 40.9, n = 101
