We have a clear vision as to what we want to accomplish. The owners are trying to retire and we
want a smooth transition with this merger and acquisition. We need to have meetings with
department heads, management, and anyone in leadership to understand what is expected of them during this transition. We know what we need to achieve, why this outcome is important,
and how will we reach the end goal. Most of our employees are in the age range of 31-40. That
is 42 employees. Most are male, females make up 39 percent of total employees. Most are
either single or married, they are the same percentage of 40 percent. Meaning 20 percent are
divorced. Most have an associate's degree with them and a small percentage have a doctorate.
We should have this information gathered as soon as possible. Having this information on hand
can assist us in ensuring a smoother transition and keeping our employees happy. We are
disrupting their everyday work and the least we can do is listen to their concerns and try and deal
with them as they arise.
"Change can be a difficult time for employees, and it's not uncommon to feel underappreciated or ignored (Maltese, 2017)." If mistakes are made, we need to address them as quickly as possible and rectify anything we see fit. When listening to employee feedback, they will see if we are open to positive or negative comments. When we feel that something negative is being brought up, we need to ensure we are open-minded to tackle the issue at hand versus feeling wronged and trying to punish the person giving the feedback. We need to assess and ensure we have all the information needed to execute a proper response. We cannot judge something based on how we are feeling on the matter, everything needs to be taken into account. We should not shame anyone for stepping up and telling us their feedback and how it makes them feel. For someone to speak up negatively, it can take courage for them to bring it up. We cannot simply dismiss it right away and pretend it never happened. Once we have all our information at hand, we can execute the decision that is the best fit for the situation.
