The concentration in blood of a certain drug A that was administered to siX patients was found to be as follows: {2.42, 2.23, 2.62, 2.55, 2.51, 2.60} while an alternate drug B administered to eight different patients resulted in {2.87, 2.41, 2.78, 2.49, 2.67, 2.40, 2.76, 2.81}. (a) Use the MannWhitney Ustatistic to test the null hypothesis that the 2 samples are from the same distribution, against the alternative that the values from Drug B are higher. Use 04 = 0.10. (b) Do a Run test for testing the null hypothesis that these 2 samples are from the same distribution, against the alternative that the distributions corresponding to these two drugs are different. Use oz = 0.10. (c) If these are 2 independent samples from two Normal distributions with a common un- known variance, explain how you would formulate the null and alternative hypotheses, and the procedure for conducting a test in Case (a)(y0u do not need to compute or actually perform the test). (10+5+5=20)
