dataset: Cancer (in R)

Sex Race.EthnicityAge Year Incidence

1 FemaleNative 15-39 200060.6824

2 FemaleNative 15-39 200169.6730

3 FemaleNative 15-39 200255.7898

This data was obtained from NIH-sponsored SEER Program (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program).

Sex = biological sex (Female or Male)

Race.Ethnicity = Race/ethnicity categories (Asian, Black, Hispanic, Native, White (hispanic), White (not hispanic))

Age = Age category (0-14, 15-39, 40-64, 65-74, 75+)

Year = Year data was collected

Incidence = Number of new cases per 100,000 people

Research Questions

1. Is there a sex-dependent effect on incidence?

2. Is there a race/ethnicity dependent effect on incidence?

Usedataset as if you were the researcher, and you'll walk through just as a researcher would: summarize the data, analyze the data, and provide conclusions and interpretations. Description of the dataset.Use research questions and dataset info to answer questions below

oAddress random selection

oAddress the variables of interest (describe these variables in detail, including how they are measured/categorized)

A completed data analysis section

oIncludes what tests you will run and an explanation for why you chose these tests

oIncludes selected alpha value

oSpecify hypotheses

oConduct tests for assumptions (normality and equal variance as needed)

oExplain what it means if assumptions fail (still continue with the analyses, but note that the assumptions failed)

The majority of the results section

oexcept for chi-squared tests, you should be able to conduct and interpret the results of the statistical tests)

oThis includes noting p-values only

oThere are NO CONCLUSIONS/INTERPRETATIONS written for this section, only objective information.
