Use Lab Simulation "The Ballistic Pendulum". Read the description of the simulation (on the very bottom of the simulation page). Set the mass of the bullet to 0.06 kg and the mass of the wood block to 4 kg. Adjust the "Initial Bullet Velocity" value to any value on the slider, and uncheck the box. "Fire" the simulation. Use the vertical slider on the right to determine the maximum height of the bullet/block swing. Record the value of the maximum swing in meters H = m. Use principle of conservation for linear momentum and principle of conservation of mechanical energy to find the speed with which the bullet is fired. Ignore air resistance. Show step-by-step solution. Check the "Initial Bullet Velocity" box. Compare the calculated value of the speed of the bullet with the value of the speed on the simulation. How close the two values are? Make a photo of the simulation. Make sure that the masses, speed, and maximum height values are displayed on the simulation. Submit the photo with your report
