Network Design for Small Airport Project Description: The project is to design a proposal for setting up a network in an airport. The airport has three departments: Airport Authority, Flight Service Providers, and Guests. The airport authority maintains a server that handles flight management controls. The flight service providers should have access only to the specific server in the airport authority network and not to any other systems. The guest users should have wireless access to a high-speed internet connection which should be shared among all the users in all the departments. The wireless access should be using a common password. The guest users should not have access to the other departments. The users should obtain IP addresses automatically. The airport authority has 20 users, the flight service providers have 40 users, and the maximum number of guests is estimated to be 100. Required Practical Skills: the following skills are required to deliver the project: o Active networking components (Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Pointsetc.) with quantity . o The IP network design for each department (creating and Mapping) with VLANs. o Dynamic IP Addressing design for all networks. o Analysis, Identification, and explanation of methodologies to use for access restriction and internet sharing . o Identify the appropriate configurations and features required on the active components to set up the network. o Network Topology Diagram. Expected Student Competencies/Outcomes o Understand the network design, implementation, and topologies. o Understand network layer functions: IP Addressing and Routing. o Understand Layer-2 Switching: Virtual LANs (VLANs). o Understand Network Operation Systems: Cisco IOS for Routers and Switches. o Understand Network Security Issues: Access Lists and Restrictions. o Understand Wireless LANs and Access points. o Many Other Network Issues, such as Cabling, DHCPetc. o Use of Packet Tracer Software Package as a network design and simulation tool. Deliverables. o You will work in teams of 3-4 in this project. Each group has one leader. o You need to implement your design in the Packet Tracer Software Package. o You need to write a project report in your own words. Your report should NOT exceed 15 pages, including all figures and tables (except appendices). The following sections are crucial in your report: Introduction, Requirements, Methodology, Simulation and Design, Discussion and Analysis, Conclusions, Appendix, and References. The leader of every group should submit a soft copy that contains a compressed folder, including (your final report in .docx & .pdf + the packet tracer files). At the end of each report, an appendix should be added as a table describing the role of each team member (list of tasks performed by every member)
