Networking and Routing Protocols

As a network administrator, you will be tasked with ensuring traffic flows through your assigned network in an optimum manner and path. One of the methods of accomplishing this is through the maintenance of the routing tables in network routers. There are two types of routers in a routing table: static and dynamic.

• When would you choose to add dynamic routes?
• When would you choose to add static routes?
• Are all dynamic protocols supported on all routers? How do you find out which ones are supported?
• Can more than one dynamic routing protocol be used on a single router?
• Why or why not?
• What would be the advantages/disadvantages of multiple dynamic routing protocols on a single router?
