Nexhiya entered into an agreement with a landlord of a plot in Male' for the construction of the building. The agreement specifically mentioned that the duration of construction given to Nexhiya is 18 (eighteen) months, failing which there would be legal consequences. Due to the covid 19 situation in the Maldives, the construction was halted and Nexhiya saw a steep downfall in its income generation. As a result of this, they were not able to complete the building at a time of the period given in the agreement. The landlord wishes to pursue legal action against Nexhiya. But Nexhiya wants to appoint YOU as their lawyer and they sought to solve the matter outside Court by means of Negotiation or Mediation. YOU being the lawyer of Nexhiya prepare and present a paper to the Company as to how you prefer to settle the matter outside court. Your paper should discuss the details of preparations you will make, the arguments you will present to the landlord, the means (negotiation/mediation) you prefer, and the justification for it.
