Nicolle made a gift promise to Professor B to give the Professor a cash gift of $50,000. Nicolle was a grateful former student of the Professor who became a multi-millionaire as a lawyer. Nicolle had previously given the Professor gifts of $10,000 in cash and $5,000 in personal property. In reliance on Nicolle's promise the Professor contracted in writing to purchase from Grace for $50,000 the unique rst edition of Grace's autobiography titled "Daughter of a Bad Ass Mom." Thereafter, the Professor contracted for the services of Pamela who agreed that for $100 she would give the Professor a manicure. Pamela, however, was not a licensed manicurist although she was exceptionally talented and experienced at giving manicures. And Professor B was very pleased with the manicure Pamela gave the Professor. Later, the Professor responded to a Best Buy newspaper advertisement which stated that the rst 10 persons to respond to the advertisement could buy an Apple computer for $1. And although he was among the rst 10 persons to respond, Best Buy refused to sell the Professor an Apple computer for $1 because Best Buy said advertisements are not offers which can be accepted. Pamela sued the Professor for $100 after he refused to pay her invoice. Shortly thereafter, Nicolle told the Professor she wouldn't honor her promise to gift him $50,000.
