Nonjudicial punishment is authorized by Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The various services call nonjudicial punishment by different names: Article 15, NJP, Captain's Mast, Office hours, etc. Describe nonjudicial punishment as used in the military. Address, at a minimum, when is it appropriate to use, the purposes of using nonjudicial punishment, and the punishments available should the servicemember be found guilty.
