Not all states treat non-compete agreements in the same manner. Some allow for their enforcement while others do not. Consider, on one end of the spectrum you have a few number of states that generally do not enforce non-compete agreements, like California. On the other end you have states like Florida, whose current law on non-completes instructs courts examining a non-compete case to not consider any individualized economic or other hardship that might be caused to the person against whom enforcement is sought.
