Q.7 Benzene (C6H6) is converted to cyclohexane (C6H12) by direct reaction with hydrogen. The fresh feed to the process is 15.1m3/hr of benzene and 68m3/hr of hydrogen at 90C and 200kPa. The single-pass conversion of hydrogen in the reactor is 50% while the overall conversion of hydrogen in the process is 75%. The reactor outlet is separated into two streams: one stream is the recycle stream, which contains 80% hydrogen and 20% benzene and the other stream is the product stream, which contains hydrogen, benzene and all of the cyclohexane. The recycle stream is mixed with the fresh feed and sent to the reactor. Determine the composition and volumetric flowrate (in m3/hr ) of the product stream if it leaves at 150C and 150kPa. Determine the volumetric flowrate (in m3/hr ) of the recycle stream if it is at 90C and 150kPa. [10 Marks]
