Think of three businesses in your local area that you consider to be successful. Try to select businesses that are at least three years old.write the name of each business and the goods or services it sells.

Go and talk to the owners of those three businesses. See if they agree with you that their businesses are successful. Ask them how they decided to go into that business. Did they see a need in the market that was not being met? Did they have some experience, contacts or skills to build upon? Did they know someone else in the business? Was this the first business they ever worked in?
