Now, in week 8, we look at two concepts in the modern world. These are examples of processes and tools that take keep technology transforming, becoming more efficient, and providing a competitive advantage. There are many similar tools that accomplish this, but we're going to look at two of them. First, we turn to developing our understanding of Systems analysis in technology that transforms. Systems analysis is the process of studying a procedure or business in order to identify its goals and purposes and create systems and procedures that will achieve them in an efficient way.

in Technology that Transforms, we need to begin to understand the various technologies that help us manage the accelerating pace of technology, i.e., deterministic operations research and system/software development life cycles. So we begin to look at a form of value analysis, or value engineering, which seek to cut costs while ensuring the scope is maintained. Now, the first concept, Systems Analysis, relates closely to the second concept, called deterministic operations research; the comparison / contrast is the focus of our discussion this week.
