Objective: Let's have a discussion about the Natural , surrogate and Primary Keys.
How different or similar are they?
Try to mention examples or real time scenarios for this aspect. Pick another student's discussion post/thread and respond with a constructive comment as to why you agree or disagree with either of the students posted scenarios. Another Students post: Natural keys and surrogate keys are all primary keys but a primary key can be a natural key or a surrogate key. Natural keys and surrogate keys a drastically different since a natural key is a unique identifier that is already built into the table, while a surrogate is a unique identifier that is artificially created because of a lack of a natural key. An example of a natural key is when categorizing U.S states, since the state names themselves are unique they are used as the primary key. An example of a surrogate key is the instance of combining two tables whose primary keys are the same, to make sure there is a unique identifier a surrogate key is generated.
