You've got a convex and a concave lens placed next to another like this:
(a) The distance between the two lenses is d = 0 cm and the object width g = 10 cm. Now construct the beam path of this achromatic doublet for light with a wavelength of 500 nm and 600 nm. The focal lengths of the two lenses are f_(convex, 500nm) = 1.5 cm, f_(convex, 600nm) = 2.0 cm, f_(concave, 500nm) = 3.75 cm and f_(concave, 600nm) = 10 cm.
(b) Now compare this setup to a thin convex lens with regard to their image quality. What do you expect when using another wavelength?
