On June 27, 2023, the Pregnant Workers' Fairness Act (PWFA) went into effect, It is a new law that requires covered employersto provide "reasonable accommodations" to a worker's known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions,unless the accommodation will cause the employer an "undue hardship."

"Covered employers" include private and public sector employers with at least 15 employees, Congress, Federal agencies, employment agencies, and labor organizations.

Some of you may have stories about being you or a friend or loved on being affected by unfair treatment because she was pregnant. One of my daughters in law was adversely affected by a supervisor who had ZERO idea that asking her to pump in a bathroom, forcing her to take leave hours, or pushing her back to work were discriminatory treatment. Granted, the treatment occurred before 2023, but existing laws on file, along with common decency, should have clued this male supervisor in on the idea that what he was doing was simply heathenistic.

On that note, take a few minutes and tell me your thoughts on how we got to this point. I mean, it's obvious have been having babies and working for a very long time. Why did we need to codify yet another law to ensure fair treatment?
