On the 11th of March 2020, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO's Director-General, announced that COVID-19, that was first reported in China, could be characterized as a pandemic. This was due to the rapid increase in the number of cases outside China that affected a large number of countries in a very globally, short time. Subsequently, a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were hastily adopted as part of containment and mitigation of the disease. These SOPs are the outcome of one of the themes of public policy.
